Study: Network News Viewers at All-Time Low; Half under Age 30 Never Watch News

Network news viewers are declining in unprecedented rates, from an average of 48 million nightly network news viewers in 1985 to 24.5 million in 2013, according to Pew Research analysis of Nielsen Media Research data.

Young people aged 18-29 are the least likely to watch network news regularly (only 11 percent did so in 2012), and 49 percent of people in this age group say they never watch the news.

In the survey, only 15 percent of people under 30 could identify NBC Nightly News Anchor Brian Williams.

    my nephew, 27yo, lives with me (i’m 61) and is solely focused on his tablet or smart phone and all apps are entertainment related. he does watch TV but the minute a commercial or news comes on….on to another station! anything important going on in the real world he’s oblivious to, unless it happens directly to him. i don’t watch TV cuz what’s on these days is stupid, boring, unreal as in not the real thing and degrading. i prefer the internet these days.

    I quit watching MSM TV probably 6 years ago. What an Awakening! You begin to realize how the world really works and who the true enemies are!!! I visit the SGT Report, on average, 15 times a day. At home and work… Zerohedge is a great website too. Sorry Sean, ZeroHedge is my homepage. But still, 15 x a day is pretty good! LOL
