Texas School Re-writes the First and Second Amendment…

from Liberty Blitzkrieg:

This is straight up ridiculous. The Daily Paul has brought to my attention that Guyer High School in Denton, Texas is currently using a textbook that describes the 2nd Amendment as such:

Now this is what the 2nd Amendment actually says:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

[Ed. Note: Be sure to read the re-writing of the other Amendments as well. We wonder what they have done to the remainder of our Bill of Rights… and Constitution… – MRH]

That is a direct attack on the Constituion and therefore high treason. A hanging is in order.

Much of the ado in this issue is created by the phrase “well regulated”. The term “regulated” does not mean today what it did around 1800. Back then, it simply meant trained and not under close scrutiny of a government agency or the authority of the US federal government. The Founding Fathers knew that private citizens needed to protect themselves and their interests from ALL comers, including even their own government. Why would they seek regulation in our current lexicon by the very same government that they were against via force of arms? They would not, of course, so regulated is out in today’s terms. It is significant than when the Virginia State Constitution was written, the term “well regulated” was not included.

I think the more modern term for well regulated would be combat ready, since regulate at that time meant finely tuned. I think you’re right on point with that Ed.

Thing is if you were to show most of these kids the real “Bill of Rights” most couldn’t read it… cursive is no longer being taught in school don’t you know.

Show them a primary source document, and be greeted with a blank stare… might as well be in Greek.

Someone once wrote that back in the day, regulated meant properly adjusted, or tuned, like a clock mechanism would be. If the speed of the escapement is too fast or too slow, the clock will not run correctly. So a well regulated militia would mean the men in it were properly adjusted and trained, all of them tuned to the same note.
