My friend Doug over at DougHamel.com sent me this 1965 interview with Bob Dylan which appeared in D.A. Pennebaker’s 1967 Dylan documentary ‘Don’t Look Back‘.
In this clip Dylan confronts a Time Magazine reporter and levels a few truth bombs which have clearly stood the test of time.
The gist of it is that Time was whoring for the establishment then, just as it continues to do today – using propaganda to lead the American people into war after war, without end.
“If I want to find out anything I’m not going to read Time magazine, I’m not going to read Newsweek, I’m not going to read any of these magazines because they have too much to lose by printing the truth, you know that. They’d just go off the stands in a day if they printed really the truth.” – Bob Dylan
Of course, what Bob Dylan really knew about “truth” he openly conveyed in his lyrics. And as the establishment leads us into yet another bloody conflict with a people we don’t know, with a people with whom the average American has no quarrel, half way around the world, in Syria, I continue to pray to a just God that peace and sanity might return to my country.
Our nation is still under the iron-fisted control of these Masters of War.
