Chile fights GMO in national protest against ‘Monsanto law’

by RT, via The Daily Sheeple:

Thousands of Chileans have rallied against a bill dubbed the “Monsanto law” that would let multinationals patent GMO seeds. Activists say it will not only compromise food sovereignty in Chile, but will also harm consumer health.

Mass protests were held in at least nine cities across the Latin American country to protest the bill that would allow for the development of genetically modified seeds. Activists carried banners emblazoned with slogans such as “Monsanto kills” and “Monsanto will patent your life.”

Other protesters dressed up as bees and zombies to illustrate their fear that the new legislation could lead to the degradation of Chile’s biodiversity.

Isn’t it great how we have turned away from capitalism to Giant Corporations thanks to Govt’s in power who allow a select few companies to control their respective industries. When I was growing up as a kid in the 60’s we had local pharmacies, hardware stores, local farm vendors, grocery stores, independent shoes and clothing stores etc.

Now it’s CVS vs Walgreen’s, Home Depot vs Lowe’s, Target vs Walmart vs Amazon and the scariest one of the bunch is MONSANTO and the other 2 or 3 Agri-food conglomerates who are hellbent on controlling the world’s FOOD supply with their poisonous foods and to shut everyone out.

What a great future for the next generation. I hope Chile stands up to these thugs.
