by SGT,
Thanks to SGT report reader Taff for bringing this one to our attention. This Bill was first introduced in February 2012. Currently the Bill is in Committee. But don’t worry, just like they’re targeting the Second Amendment in Illinois, home to the criminal known as Rahm Emanuel, and former home to one Barack Hussein Obama aka Barry Soetoro, Illinois is coming after your right to buy and sell physical precious metals as well. It’s the tyrannical tiptoe.
If passed, what will the latest liberty restricting Illinois law do? Let’s take a look:
“Creates the Precious Metal Purchasing Act. Provides that a person who is in the business of purchasing precious metal shall obtain a proof of ownership, create a record of the sale, and verify the identity of the seller. Provides that a person who is in the business of purchasing precious metal shall not pay for the precious metal in cash and shall record the method of payment. Requires the purchaser to keep a record of the sale for one year or, if the purchase amount is over $500, for 5 years. Provides that a person who violates the Act is guilty of a petty offense and subject to a fine not exceeding $500. Provides that the Attorney General may inspect records, investigate an alleged violation, and take action to collect civil penalties.”
As a friend of SGT report notes: I know that the saying is “As goes California, so goes the U.S.”, but Illinois is striving to be first, at being more tyrannical than California and Washington, DC.
Read the Bill for yourself, here.

The same bad people that realize that guns are the citizens last line of defense also realize that precious metals are the last line of economic defense. As I suggested to you last night Sean, if they can take away the guns then taking away the metals will be easy. This is where things are headed absent individual states pushing back.
Ultimately as predicted in Revelation chapter 13, we will be headed toward a cashless society. Time is short people.
I should mention that as this particular state is heading in the wrong direction, then many of us living in states like this that allow or forcefully take their citizens’ rights away (either by the govt or by their own hand) may have to plan on moving. Not a pretty thought.
David Rockefeller is calling for a cashless system by 2016.
A bunch of us have been looking at our fiat frn’s for months and months…nothing newer that 2009.
Where is all of the “new fiat”? They always show it being printed on the msm.
All digital folks, the bastards are destroying frn’s as we speak…just takes a while to get it all back…better be stacking as fast as you can…better have a way to grow you own food, have a good stash of it, get and have clean water, keep youself warm and be able to protect your loved ones by any means possible.
Watched “Collapsed” the Micheal Ruppert documentary last night…recommend that all watch it if you haven’t.
God bless all of those who wish to survive.
that would make sense, snake-oil salesman lyndsey williams talks about the elite needing more time to set up their new system, meanwhile getting everyone in more and more debt
The “Bill Status” page, to which you linked, shows the flurry of activity on this bill, within the last 6 days.
These are the last days of the Illinois 97th Congress, and they want to rush it through, before the new Congress is seated, and the sponsors would have to start-all-over.
Criminals….
By the way, everyone should check to see if their state legislators are attempting similar repressive gold/silver regulations.
It’s YOUR responsibility to keep an eye on these crooks.
Only bit of info I could find in SC., but it might be moot, since I purchase my PM’s from gainsville or provident or Apmex. No coin places where I live in SC.

Putting out the “feelers” to see what will be the best plan to manage the parabola.
Build a pre- “Nationalization” data base to “clip” the fleeing sheep that are running for the last safe havens. They want to know who owns the valuable assets.
Obama already has the Executive Orders in place to confiscate all that you need to weather the storm. His EO Resource Preparedness grants him the power to steal from and starve a nation.
When you die….or disappear, your belongings will be forfeited to the state
Hey AgShaman, what happens to their belongings when they die or disappear? I imagine if they keep this up some of them might start disapearing…..maybe in a basement tied to a chair listening to “Stuck in the Middle with You.”
My pops was from Chicago and he being a slightly blinded republican was all about freedom and individual responsibility…In fact everyone that I knew from the Windy City were more individualist than most other people. WTF is going on with these once proud people? It is really embarrassing that they are so homogenized and basically worthless as Americans. I guess the best way to explain it is contrasting it with the beginning of America VS England. All the Brave English left and morphed into Americans defeating the red coat bastards with ease..Kidding, it was difficult but THE BRAVE WON! Just like Illinois All the real people must have left leaving only the weak minded. Don’t mean to be so harsh but really there can be no other explanation.
Chicago is a “Hub” for the syndicate.
They have a HFT computerized scalping operation there in the CME Group’s casino command center.
The place breeds criminality of the highest degree.
Illinois will be a willing “point” to drive the spear of tyranny into a nation
It’s now become the welfare state Mike. There are more takers than makers. Chicago has been run by Democrats for generations. Those same democrats run the state. The politicians, their families and friends, are getting richer by the day, while they raise taxes and fees on everyone else. The corruption is legend, and in your face. They no longer care if we know what’s going on. They re-elect indicted state congressmen, and don’t think twice about re-electing Jesse Jackson Jr. while he’s in the nuthouse.
Chicago is well on it’s way to becoming the next Detroit.
This is regawdamndiculous!! Gold and silver is money. It’s Honest money! Anyone who can’t see they are pulling all the stops, robbing us blind, and setting all of us as sitting ducks by now needs to shut up and READ!!
The state of Illinois is the most corrupt and bankrupt state in the union. I live in Indiana but work in an Illinois hospital. If my employment were not in this state then I would never cross the state line. I have co-workers who wish desperately to move to Indiana to get away from the Illinois taxation but with the housing market being so decimated they are screwed… poor souls. Business’s are leaving in mass and taxes keep going up.
Keep stack’n… hold strong & go long…
PBP
Florida did the same thing, but they said you couldn’t buy anything at all, even used items for cash. Not even a used toaster and a pair of socks from a garage sale. You had to use a check or other payment method that left a paper trail and keep a receipt.
Illinois is just showing that they know there is a growing movement of people into real honest commodity money and they need to get a record so they know who is awake and who they should target and steal from when the entire fiat ponzi scheme goes down.
The New approval for a copper ETF (they feel the need to even manipulate copper???), the gun grab and now the precious metals money crackdown shows me that they are getting even more desperate. This thing has got to be close to collapsing for them to scurry out of their little rat’s nests and be this openly blatant about what they want. I really think that only fear of what happens to them and their power when it collapses is driving them to be this blatant.
If they do this they will force a black market, barter based economy which is where this whole mess is heading anyway. There are always unintended consequences to these draconian actions and these rulers are just not that smart. Stack physical for sure but stack other barter friendly goods too. Good luck to all.
They may want to do just that, force a black market. Then everybody is called a “financial terrorist” and they can use that justification to jail anybody. Making the whole populace into criminals lets them clamp down and try to control us with the police state.
It is going to matter where you live and I wouldn’t be in Illinois for anything.
I would leave Illinois in a heartbeat if I could… There is a saying “…Chicago has the best judges that money can buy…”
I just read the proposed bill. Two things jump out. This bill would push people into the silver market due to the extremely low monetary amounts. Maybe they want to support Max Keiser’s agenda… Soon gold fractions will exceed the $500 level with one single purchase, and selling any metal will have to be reported with a $250 point level.
Secondly, it will put all coin dealers out of business when people will purchase/sell back to out of state dealers. Illinois is just staying the course and forcing businesses to flee the state.
I guess you will be able to buy 250 $1 silver eagles because it does not specify the term “value”….is it face value or weight value? Either way it is total criminal interference w/ peoples business’ & hopefully gets turned down like the assault weapons ban
The first paragraph of the bill seems to say dealers must not buy metals from someone who doesn’t have an official id, nor are they allowed to pay cash – this could stop some dealers from buying stolen metals and provide some measure of protection for the public, but it could also violate privacy of legitimate sellers, and thieves could sell stolen metal in another state.
General,
You’ve hit upon the point made by the legislators. The “intent” is to stop burglars from selling jewelry to “cash-for-gold” kiosks. Thieves are able to fly-below-the-radar, and get cash. Illinois pawn shops are already heavily-regulated, and won’t buy from criminals.
So, this is to protect us? Of course! – Just like gun bans do. Pffft
TPTB want a paper trail. When the time is right that is easier to follow(via computers) than a metal detector.
