In Steven Soderbergh’s most recent mega-budget Hollywood thriller ‘Contagion’ the world population is threatened with annihilation by a new deadly strain of flu. This slick cinematic effort in predictive programming pulls out all the stops with its all-star cast which includes Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law and Kate Winslet.
In perhaps the most disingenuous scene in the film, 30 Rock‘s Scott Adsit asks Laurence Fishburne’s character, “Is there any way someone could weaponize the bird flu, is that what we’re looking at?” to which Fishburne responds, “Someone doesn’t have to weaponize the bird flu. The birds are doing that.”

The problem is, despite Soderbergh’s penchant for quality filmmaking, this duplicitous exchange stands out like a sore thumb in an otherwise frighteningly accurate film.
You see friends, the psychopaths within the Bio-tech military industrial complex just announced that they have weaponzied the bird flu. And they’ve made it unimaginably deadly. With the ability to kill 1 of every 2 people it infects, this new, man-made strain of H5N1 bird flu has the ability to wipe half the world’s population from the face of the globe. And a group of scientists are now debating whether or not to release a paper on how they created this humanity-ending concoction.

So, just what the hell is going on here?
As the world financial picture continues to dim, as the derivatives bomb explodes, as the Euro falls, as the national debt rises and the dollar decays – and as the United States government takes new, ever bolder steps towards Authoritarian tyranny, all of this madness leads me to wonder. For what its worth the movie Contagion is not about “the world population [being] annihilated by a new deadly strain of bird flu.” The flu epidemic in the movie is a mixture of a bat and pig flu that starts out of Hong Kong.

I told my friends that February that a biological event was imminent.
I also was at the 62nd World Health Assembly where I witnessed with my own eyes the DG kick NGOs out of the room after they complained about “conflict-of-interest” relating to the presence of pharmaceutical representatives and policy making.
I pressed a diplomat on the Baxter article, not knowing if he fully understood what I was getting at, he finally admitted that there was some room in the embassy which necessitated a lengthy security procedure which did have “alternate” information, but he didn’t seem to care. He just wanted to do his compartmentalized job, go along to get along, cog in the machine.

Many decades ago I learned my ABC’s (or should that be ‘ATGC’s) about zoonoses, RNA, DNA, the ‘common’ virus, and the ‘humble’ bacteria. I have a very deep respect for the virus – the most primitive and ancient life form on this planet – a life form so close to not being life that a debate raged about it for a generation – yet the virus is indeed (arguably) the most successful from of life ever. From my experience I would like to suggest that the remark about birds ‘weaponising’ a virus are not quite as far off the mark as it may have seemed.
So called ‘Mutations’ occur in nature constantly, but when this happens to a virus it can effectively become a new ‘species’ (for all intents and purposes). We commonly call this ‘new’ virus a ‘strain’. This is all part of the life cycle of the most ancient and successful life form on this planet – which the virus is (closely followed by bacteria).
It is testimony to the ‘immune’ system of ‘higher’ animals and the resistance of plants that survival is possible on a planet teeming with microscopic life.
As a sci-fi fan I am regularly disapointed by films that show aliens on this planet (or humans on other planets) without protective suits – in reality the indiginous viruses and bacteria would quickly destroy the ‘alien’ in any environment their immune system had not previously (and at least) adapted to (there can be no inoculations against every type of microorganism). The only sci-fi story – and one written over a century ago in 1898!) that made a point of the deadly nature of even the ‘common’ cold to a higher ‘animal’ was ‘War of the Worlds’ (coincidently this was at a point in time when the Europeans were at the very begining of experiments using bacteria, such as anthrax, as a weapon).
It is expected that it will only be a matter of time before another ‘great plague’ strikes the world – either natural or man made it matters not as the effects will be the same – death on a massive scale. This is the nature of things, it will happen with or without mans interference at some point. Perhaps the so called ‘elite’ are just tired of waiting……..
It is interesting how for every one person who holds to the core idea of population control, there is exactly zero who plan to be among those exterminated.

It will be interesting to see how many of these “informed” people will fare differently, as they are so clearly prepared for all of the said damage to occur. Intellectual preparedness….that is a group virtually anyone will place themselves in whether they are or not. Who do you know will admit to being uninformed about any subject matter? Everyone knows everything today, you didn’t know that? Emotional preparedness is a completely different story, especially when the material things you have relied on so strongly vanish before you eyes, just as all material things are subject to, especially those with extreme value. Then will the informed be so different than the swine flooding the department stores on black Friday? Probably not.
Those who quickly assume they are so different than the thief, than the murderer, than the liar, the lazy, and the drug addict simply do not know that all it takes is just a little tweak of one’s circumstances and one could very very easily become one of them. Yes it is sad how masses of people flock to department stores for shoddy merch at discounted rates, pepper spraying and beating each other. Don’t place yourself above them. If you were raised the same way and led to believe the same lies they believe, just as any human is susceptible, you would be doing the same thing. Deception taunts every man alive and not a single one of us is 100% free of that. So be thankful you have been spared that fate, and keep alert that you don’t fall victim to similar lies.
Take my favorite illustration for this idea as an example: My favorite is the fat, overweight, obese man who looks down on a drug addict because he doesn’t have any self control. The fat man, stuffing his fat face with two sandwiches and a large pepperoni pizza says to himself “This drug addict has brought all his misery upon himself, he deserves what he gets.” Then, after a while, the overweight man is rushed to the hospital for triple bypass surgery. Now you may not fit this example personally, but someone does, and there are manifold other situations that will fit you like a glove, which are principally just like this one.
Care should be taken when looking down on another person. Every human being has the potential for great weakness and likewise for great strength.
David, if all you took away was the last line, you entirely missed the point. If they release a lethal bio-weapon like their new deadly bird flu, we are all in for a shit storm, regardless of education level or financial status. But as I point out, if the dumbed down masses behave like animals (as they do every year on Black Friday) when they are NOT desperate, just wait to see how they behave when they are truly desperate. Just wait.
Well if they do release this madness and misery on the world, we know who did it and who to hold responsible for. My feeling is that there will be many angry people out there that will exact a terrible revenge against the perp-a-traitors should they go live with this “announcement”. Just shows how depraved the bio weapons people are.
